Half way to 1 year!

My little peanut is already 6 months old! It seriously feels like he was just born. (That is not a lie. Seriously, some days my vagina still hurts. hahaha)

Little man's 6 months stats were 13lbs 10oz and 26.25 inches. Ethan is a very long, but very skinny peanut!

Peanut is eating like crazy - 2 containers of baby food and/or baby yogurt in the morning and 2 in the evening. (And yet this kid still is skinny!!) Favorites so far include bananas, applesauce, blueberries and baby food's version of spaghetti and meat sauce (yuck! - but he likes it.)

I am enjoying every second with my little man, even the nights he won't go to sleep till midnight and I have to rock him to sleep for an hour. Time has gone so quickly and it scares me how fast the next 6 months are going to go. Soon we will be celebrating his first Thanksgiving and first Hanukkah and Christmas. And yes, I have already started shopping for "Santa" and Daddy is a little worried Mommy may not stop shopping till Christmas Eve. I cannot make any promises. :)

Ethan has just figured out how to sit up, so I know crawling, standing and even more scary, walking is to come. I guess this means we should start baby proofing the house? :/

I told you he enjoys eating.

New Mommy Slacker - Ethan's Birth Story

I know, I know. I have been very very very bad at updating this blog. I guess being a new Mommy has taken over my life. As promised, here is (a short version of) Ethan's birth story!

May 5th 2:00pm - Mommy has officially accepted Ethan will not be coming early. Decides to bake cookies and do laundry.
May 5th 3:00pm - Finishes cookies and turns oven off. Lays on couch to watch some tv and wait for nothing to happen. Mommy then thinks she has lost all bladder control and peed herself. Realizes that is a lot of pee and thinks "Oh! I think my water broke!"
May 5th 3:05pm - Mommy calls Daddy and tells him Ethan is making his arrival and let's get this show on the road!
May 5th 4:30pm - After a quick visit to the Doctor's office to confirm water has definitely broken, Mommy and Daddy check in to the hospital. Mommy is hooked up to monitors and pitocin is started due to Mommy's contractions never starting on their own.
May 5th (Around 6:30pm) - Mommy has had enough of this contraction stuff and requests epidural.
May 5th 45 mins later - After 3 attempts to get epidural into Mommy's back, she finally gets some relief and wants to marry Anesthesiologist.
May 5th Around 11pm? - (Timing is now fuzzy for Mommy at this point.) Mommy begins pushing. This takes a lot longer and is a lot harder then she thought.
May 6th 2:32am - Ethan Jacob Dabbeekeh is born!! (Yes - there was a lot that happened between the start of pushing and Ethan's arrival, but it all kind of mushes together 7 weeks out.)
May 6th 2:33am - Mommy cannot believe she just did that. Daddy cannot believe Mommy just did that and they both survived it!!!

Mommy right after Ethan was born!! Still in shock!!!

Maternity Pics Preview

My friend Sharyn Frenkel is an amazing photographer. I met her when I booked her for my wedding and we have since become very good friends. I couldn't think of anyone else doing my maternity shoot, as well as, new photos of Baby D. Here is the first of my maternity photos she took last weekend.

Baby D's Shower! He Done Good!!!

I'm a little late with this post, but last weekend was my Baby Shower and boy did we get showered!! Family and friends were more then gracious and it took 4 cars to get everything we got back to my parent's house and 3 very packed cars to get everything home to PA. I can't believe tomorrow I hit the 30 day mark till Baby D's due date. I am hoping he decides to arrive a little sooner then that, but I guess it's a waiting game till then! I have my 1st internal exam on Monday, so I will keep everyone posted as to how that goes and if we have anything exciting to report!

33 Weeks and Moving Right Along....

How Far Along: 33 weeks

Maternity Clothes: Yes. I actually got excited to wear an A-line dress of mine from last summer that actually passed as maternity. Still deciding if that is a good or bad thing.

Stretch Marks: Like a tree falling in a forest...if you can't see them, they don't exist. :)

Sleep: I am trying really hard to not sleep on my back but it's really the only comfortable position right now. I also am peeing 3-4 times a night, but actually had 1 night this week I didn't get up to pee at all. Wondering if there was a full moon?

Best moment of the week: Hubby's office threw him a baby shower. Was really exciting to see how much everyone at his work thinks so highly of him and how generous they were. Gets me very excited for my shower in 2 weeks!

Movement: Kicks, Hiccups and Somersaults. Baby has finally made his presence in my lungs known. Ugg.

Food Cravings: Pepsi. That's a weird one.

Gender: Still thinking penis at this point. :)

What I'm looking forward to this week: Making sure all is good at 33 week Doctor appt, Continuing to get things in the nursery ready, counting down to my baby shower, starting to pack hospital bag

Nursery Progress....

Here are some pics of the nursery so far. The room has been painted a light brown color to match the bedding, Hubby redid the closet by adding new shelves and put together the crib and dresser. This weekend we are putting up curtains and maybe putting together the final piece of furniture - the changing table! Yea!

As you can see, our little dog Ellie is really excited for the new baby. (sarcasm noted.) But you can see from the pics, who inspired our theme for the nursery!

Yes I have been slacking...forgive me.

How Far Along: 31 weeks 5 days

Maternity Clothes: Yes. I'm starting to worry that some of the stuff I bought in the beginning is getting too tight. Ugg.

Stretch Marks: My stomach has gotten so big I can't see most of them which I'm thinking is a good thing?

Sleep: Gave up on trying not to sleep on my back. At this point you do what's comfortable. Getting a lot of Braxton Hicks at night which really sucks!

Best moment of the week: Watching baby move my belly. Getting the nursery painted and starting to put together furniture. :)

Movement: Kicks, Hiccups and Somersaults. :)

Food Cravings: What don't I like to eat at this point.....

Gender: IT'S A BOY!!! And from the looks of the 3-d ultrasound, he's going to be a chubby boy!

What I'm looking forward to this week: Daddy feeling Baby D kick more, seeing my stomach move more, finishing nursery
